SCALE UP! Explained:
You are the co-founders of a startup. Your goal is to build and scale this tiny startup to a successful scale up.
First team to successfully raise a 50M syndicate investor deal - and make it over the finish line wins.
Sounds easy?
Along the way you will meet Ups (Boom), downs (Bust), investors, Super Angels, World Famous Advisors. You will develop strategies, funding structures, business models, pitches, deal with strategic dilemmas, build your investor pitch, master cap table math, deal with exit scenarios and learn how to develop your long-term capital strategy.
You will be competing with (up to) five other teams, all set on finishing ahead of you.
How to win
Work strategically, deal with investors as best as possible, structure great investment deals, handle startup challenges and work hard and fast to raise multiple rounds of financing and scale the company.
What you will experience
You will be challenged to develop a strategy and make strategic decisions under time pressure, notably with regard to investors and investor syndicates.
You will be exposed to strategic dilemmas, hostile competitors, demanding investors, complex deals, liquidity crisis and all the factors a startup team has to deal with as it tries to get to a successful exit.
Many people get overwhelmed. They function poorly as a team. They get stressed. They make bad decisions. They are unable to collaborate on strategy. They are unable to handle tough competitors. They make bad deals. They are unable to handle cap tables.
This is by design.
Scale Up! Is developed based on 20 years of experience with early-stage companies, including building several accelerator programs, raising venture funds and taking companies from idea to IPO.

Meet your trainers
Christian Rangen:
Christian Rangen is a serial entrepreneur, strategy expert, business school faculty, speaker, author – and most recently founder and CEO of Strategy Tools. Strategy Tools started as his PhD project, quickly turned into a private research initiative. Since 2011, Strategy Tools has been used with 1000’s of companies around the world.
Over the past 18 years, he has advised companies and governments globally on strategy, innovation, transformation and developing ecosystems. Over the past three years, he has worked extensively on Innovation Superclusters, working closely with the Malaysian and Norwegian Governments to support their national innovation programs. Chris has led multiple National Transformation Projects, including launching new accelerator programs, venture builders and early stage VC funds.He is an active angel investor in disruptive technology firms.
Chris is also business school faculty, teaching strategy, transformation and the clean energy revolution at BI – Norwegian Business School (Norway) and Zigurat (Spain). He is an active public speaker and presents frequently at international innovation and strategy conferences. Most recently, Chris has been recognized by the prestigious Thinkers50 as one of 30 thinkers to watch in 2022.
He resides in Stavanger, Norway, but travels extensively for clients, speaking engagements and conferences.
Suhail Algosaibi:
Suhail is an award-winning serial entrepreneur, consultant, startup investor/mentor, innovation authority, TEDx speaker, and activist. He is the founder of Falak Innovation, a values-based, purpose-driven strategy and innovation consultancy. Falak’s purpose is to build stronger economies and happier societies by unlocking business and human potential.
Suhail has worked and consulted in several industries including petrochemicals, banking, health, fitness, education, real estate and intellectual property. He’s also consulted, coached and mentored hundreds of startups since the early 2000’s.
Suhail is chairman of Tenmou, Bahrain’s first Business Angels Company, investing in scalable, technology-focused Bahrain-based companies with a minimum viable product and early signs of traction across different sectors. He is also chairman of Ryalize, a financial wellness FinTech operating out of Singapore and the GCC.
Among other awards, Suhail is the winner of the 2015 eEntrepreneur Award, granted by the Bahrain eGovernment Authority. He has two business degrees and has attended numerous executive education courses including ones in Harvard Kennedy School and MIT. He’s also been a member of Entrepreneur Organisation (EO) since 2006 and has served in various leadership positions within EO.
Who can apply to the simulation?
Businesses:
Bahrain-based founders and business owners with an existing Commercial Registration (CR), with an idea, product, service or concept that is scalable and relevant to the local/regional market.
Individuals:
Individuals from venture capital firms, angel investors, accelerators, academia and ecosystem builders.
